An import is a transfer of data from one system (or from an excel spreadsheet) into Shelterluv. When switching software systems or coming from any other method of data tracking for animals in your care, you have a couple options outlined below:
1. Start fresh in Shelterluv without an import:
Start using Shelterluv sooner (after you've spent time configuring and practicing) by entering the animals currently in your custody directly into Shelterluv and refer to a backup data file for your historical records as needed.
You can request to import people records only which makes the process of creating animal records for the current animals in your care easier.
We can also discuss an import of your historical data at a later time, after you've settled in to using Shelterluv.
2. Import current and historical data:
We can import up to three years of data for each organization.
Certain fields/information can be imported and others cannot depending on your source system. Follow the steps in the guides below to share your data in the format needed for import.
If you choose this option, you'll "go live" the day after your import.
When deciding what to import, your team should consider the state of your existing data, the work involved in translating the data into an importable format, and the timeline of when you would like to go live with Shelterluv. Imports are normally scheduled 2-3 weeks in advance. These options can be discussed on your first welcome call with an onboarding specialist from our team.
Select Your Current System
The data we need and how we import it largely depends on the system you are currently using. Please choose from the options below, and we will walk you through the rest!
