An import is a transfer of data (or Excel spreadsheet) into Shelterluv. If you are switching software systems or using any other method of tracking data for animals in your care, please consider the following options:
1. Use Shelterluv without an import:
You can start using Shelterluv sooner (after you've spent time configuring and practicing) by entering the animals that are currently in your custody directly into Shelterluv.
You can request to import people only, which makes the process of creating animal records for the current animals in your care easier.
2. Import current and historical data:
We recommend three to five years of data for each organization.
Certain fields/information can be imported, and others cannot, depending on your source system. Review the guides below for information and instructions on how to share your data in the format needed for import.
If you choose this option, you'll "go live" the day after your import.
When deciding what to import, your team should consider the state of your existing data, the work involved in translating the data into an importable format, and the timeline of when you would like to go live with Shelterluv.
Imports can be scheduled 2-3 weeks in advance.
